Spotpod: Turning Job Search into a Personal Job Agent

Projects

Traditional job portals mainly solve an information problem: they make job listings searchable. But most of the actual work still falls on the job seeker — searching, reviewing results, understanding requirements, researching employers, and ultimately deciding whether a position is actually a good fit.

With Spotpod, we’re taking a different approach. Instead of building yet another job board, we’ve created an intelligent job search where a personal job agent continuously works on behalf of the user.

The technical challenge starts with search

At first, this might sound like a straightforward AI use case. In reality, one of the biggest challenges starts a level earlier: How do you find the relevant jobs in the first place?

A traditional job portal primarily knows about the jobs published or syndicated on its own platform. Spotpod is designed to search much more broadly across the publicly accessible job market. It uses multiple sources and indexes and also considers jobs published directly on employers’ career websites.

The next challenge is comparability. Job titles aren’t standardized, requirements are phrased differently, and important information is often buried in lengthy job descriptions. Searching by keywords alone is therefore not enough.

From search result to individual match

With Spotpod, users first describe their personal search profile. A desired role or position is all that’s required to get started, while additional preferences can be added to make the search increasingly precise.

The job agent then continues searching in the background. Relevant opportunities aren’t simply presented as another list of search results. Instead, each job is analyzed in the context of the individual search profile.

The result includes a match score, an overall explanation, and individual assessments for role, salary, skills, location, and social fit. For social fit, Spotpod considers publicly available information from the employer about areas such as company culture, values, ways of working, and teams.

This changes the technical problem from “Find documents containing the right keywords” to “Find relevant career opportunities for this particular person and explain why they might be worth considering.”

An agent that doesn’t stop after one search

There’s another important difference: time.

Spotpod doesn’t simply answer a single search query. The personal job agent keeps working, considers newly available opportunities, and learns from the user’s feedback.

Users can indicate which suggestions are interesting and which aren’t. This feedback helps guide future matches. Based on the jobs it analyzes, Spotpod can also ask questions that help users refine their search profile or deliberately explore broader career perspectives.

That’s where AI agents become particularly interesting to us: not simply generating text, but continuously working toward a specific goal on behalf of a user.

Spotpod has been publicly available since July 2026 and is already used by around 43,000 active registered users. The job search currently focuses on the German-speaking DACH market.

Anyone interested in trying the approach can visit spotpod.com, create a search profile, and put their personal job agent to work.
